Hibbert to Race Final Three Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Nationals

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

Goodridge, Minn. (August 19, 2009) – Monster Energy’s, Tucker Hibbert, is set to race the final three Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship events starting with Budds Creek this weekend.  The Monster Energy Triple Crown Finale in Mechanicsville, Md. marks Hibbert’s fourth pro motocross race of the summer and the beginning of a busy month for the multi-sport athlete.

Hibbert hopes to break the top-ten for the first time this weekend in the highly contested 250 class.  His top finish of the summer was in the first moto at Red Bud, where he finished 13.  He backed that up with a 14-place finish in the second moto at Spring Creek.

Racing action begins at Budds Creek on Saturday at noon.  Watch the first 250 moto live on http://www.allisports.com.

Noteworthy: Hibbert is known worldwide for his success on a snowmobile and is currently the only athlete in the world to race both motorcycles and snowmobiles at a premiere level. He recently added a third sport to his resume – mountain biking.  Throughout the summer, Hibbert has been racing mountain bikes in preparation for the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival’s Cheq 40 on Sept. 19.  The Cheq 40 is a 40-mile, 1700-rider cross-country race that runs between Hayward and Cable, Wisc.  Last year, this event was his career-first mountain bike race and proved to be the most physically demanding race he had ever entered.

Tucker Hibbert – #69
“I can’t wait to get back to racing this weekend.  My last motocross race was a month ago at Spring Creek but I’ve stayed busy with riding, training and racing mountain bikes.  I did five mountain bike races in the past four weeks.  I feel like adding another form of racing to my schedule has improved my overall fitness and mental strength.  I hope that by diversifying my racing, I’ll become a better all-around athlete and will be able prolong my racing career.”

Hibbert’s Up-Coming Events

August 22 – Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Round 10
     Mechanicsville, Md.
August 29 – Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship Round 11

Rossi takes second despite difficulties in California

Posted in Uncategorized on July 7, 2009 by monsterarmy

LONDON, (July 6, 2009)   The eighth round of the MotoGP World Championship brought the world’s premier motorcycle series to the Californian coast and the Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway for its first stop off on US soil this season. With idyllic weather all weekend, and a crowd of nearly 50,000 packing the grandstands, the scene was set perfect for the 32-lap race.

Monster Energy’s reigning World Champion Valentino Rossi (Fiat Yamaha Team #46) took an impressive second position in the race after a fierce battle with his main title rivals, despite suffering from technical glitches throughout the weekend. The Italian had been struggling to find a comfortable setting on his Yamaha M1 that would see him able to make the challenge at the front, battling fiercely with title rivals Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner before coming close to passing eventual winner Dani Pedrosa in the final corner.

“I came down the hill in the last lap like a crazy man but it was too risky to overtake!” said Rossi, an eight-time MXGP world champ. “I thought there was a chance to pass on the final corner but unfortunately I was just too far off and it was too much of a risk. Second is good today because we were not in perfect shape here, we missed something in the setting and this is always a hard track anyway, so we have to be happy with these 20 points. We have extended the championship lead so it’s a good result for us.”

On the weekend of US Independence Day, it was another positive top seven finish for Texas the Tornado Colin Edwards (Monster Energy Yamaha Tech 3 #5). Like Rossi before him, Edwards had also battled against technical issues on the M1 throughout the weekend, but sealed a comfortable seventh place which moves him up to fifth overall in the championship standings.

His Monster Energy Yamaha Tech 3 team-mate James Toseland (#52) did not have such a happy day, having been disqualified from the race after missing the call into the pits for a ride-through penalty. He was harshly adjudged to have jumped the start, and unable to see the warnings, he was forced to bring the bike in to the pits.

The MotoGP World Championship reconvenes on European soil in two weeks time, for the German GP at the Sachsenring.
