Steven Frossard in action – Kawasaki image
Frossard showed glimpses of brilliance last year, but inconsistent results cost him a chance to battle for the MX2 World title. With a change to the Pro Circuit engines Frossard is now confident he has the tools to win a World title, and join the likes ofChristophe Pourcel and Marvin Musquin as a World MX2 champion.
MXlarge: Steven, thanks for taking my call. Last year you looked great at times, but other times you made mistakes. Can you explain how that went for you last year?
Frossard: Sometimes I did a podium and sometimes I crashed, but it was my bike, not me that the problem was. I had many problems, but now with this new bike it’s much better. This bike is so much better, it’s not the same bike, this bike is unbelievable, the suspension is better, the engine is so much better. Many changes and that give me confidence.
MXlarge: On your new bike in Valence you showed really good speed. Can you tell me about your race in Valence a couple of weeks ago?
Frossard: Valence it was a good race for me, I tried my new bike, and first it was difficult because I didn’t have a good feeling at first. I start very bad, but I had good speed and came back to fifth or fourth. The second race I started in 8th and came back to Musquin and another rider it was a good race for me.
MXlarge: Where are you now?
Frossard: I am now in Netherlands , training with the team, I also did a good test on my condition and my condition is very good now.
MXlarge: I understand you train for the sand with former Grand Prix racer Kees Van Der Ven, how does that go?
Frossard: Kees is very good, I work with him when I am in Holland and he is a great coach in the sand. He doesn’t speak a lot, but when he tells me something it’s good. I have improved a lot because of the help from Kees.
MXlarge: How was your winter training?
Frossard: I had a program and we did a lot of work, also good work with my physical coach, we did a lot of running and cycling.
MXlarge: What about this year, what is your goal?
Frossard: I want to win, I don’t go for second or third this year. I work for winning the World title this year. For the moment I don’t think about the other riders, in my head it will be easy, doesn’t matter about Musquin or Roczen, I don’t have a problem with them, in my head I want to be World Champion.
MXlarge: Do you like the circuit in Sevlievo?
Frossard: I like Bulgaria , I won a heat there last year, and the second heat I broke my engine, normally I should have won there, but…Before Bulgaria I have two races in France , then I have another race, it is good before the World Championship, it is good preparation on hard pack circuits.

Tucker Hibbert – #68 Monster Energy/Arctic Cat
“After losing the [Pro] open final in Utah, I’m determined to sweep the pro classes this weekend at Canterbury. After the Utah race, I went straight to Colorado to test and ride. We [the team] had some things to work on. We addressed those issues and got in a productive week of testing. I put in a lot of laps and feel stronger than ever. I’m going into the Air Force National with new focus and determination. I consider this event my hometown race and know there are a lot of Monster Energy/Arctic Cat fans in the area. I hope they all show up this weekend because I plan on giving them a performance they won’t forget.”
